Parish Successfully Funds Ultrasound Machine

The Christmas season is a time for Miracles. And the Parish at St. Francis brought a miracle to God’s family that will keep on giving…hopefully miracle after miracle.

A few weeks ago the St. Francis Knights of Columbus brought an opportunity to our parish that could have an everlasting effect on human life. It was a call to fund an ultrasound machine for a new pregnancy center in the Fountain Fort Carson area. It’s a 3D Hi Tech machine that could help mothers choose whether to end a life …or to save it.

The goal was to raise $16,500 and the Knights of Columbus national office would match that total to purchase the machine that was valued at $33,000.

The life-saving machine is now a reality. It took our parish two weekends of masses to raise the money. It came in one envelope at a time in our collection baskets. The fund drive was scheduled to last six weeks. But, it took two weekends starting on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception for the church with a Big Heart to fund a miracle.

And it won’t be a one-time miracle. Every time an expectant mother looks at that ultrasound image of her son or daughter with a little heartbeat and kicking feet, there’s an 85% chance she’ll get the strength to bring the child to birth.

Grand Knight Frank Castellano and project chairmen Ron Toman and Harvey Siegle would like to thank our parish for always being there for God’s work.

“This just shows what a big heart this parish has. What passion we have for the Lord’s causes. We thank you for your immediate response. And we pray for these mothers to see God’s arms wrapped around them in this important time of decision.”

The pregnancy center is expected to begin operation in June. And it’ll have a new life-saving machine that’ll make a difference in the world.
